Usually photographers go the extra mile to make sure their equipment is in pristine condition, but sometimes an old friend can come along and straight disrespect the camera and the profession of photography itself! Lok Cheung, an ex-cameraman for YouTube’s biggest photography channel called DRTV, has just released a video of his own explaining how to piss off a photographer. These common questions or insults summed up in his video are a photographer’s worst nightmare.
How to Piss Off a Photographer
Grabbing a photographer’s camera without asking their permission is one of the biggest insults! Commenting on how the material is “plasticky” also doesn’t help. Touching every crevice on the camera and asking what the button’s functions are can be annoying for any photographer. Pretending to know more than the camera’s owner is generally not a good start when asking back-to-back questions. The “friend” in the video asked Lok questions and basically just answered it himself since he talked like he knew it all.
Piss off a Photographer 101
Both Canon and Nikon have accumulated a dedicated customer base, so questioning why a photographer didn’t get the other brand, when their camera preference is obvious, isn’t a good way to start a conversation. Insisting why a PC is better than a Mac for photo editing is equivalent to asking someone to switch political parties by stating that their side is better. These are only some of the piss off a photographer techniques, but touching a camera lens with dirty bare fingers is the most grave mistake of them all!
Being an obnoxious person is universally unacceptable, but being obnoxious around a photographer is another level of disrespect. Pissing off a photographer by saying that their profession is essentially just clicking a button is also a great insult. From touching everything on the camera to asking silly questions, Lok Cheung summed it up well in his comedic how to piss off a photographer video.
